No matter where life takes her, Guen keeps a keen eye out for the unexpected beauty of her surroundings—from quiet twists of stream and trail to light-dappled, forgotten corners and byways. Back home in her studio, she strives to capture the essence of a recollection—all the while exploring its unique interplay of light, shape, and movement—on canvas. Along the way, she delights in the discovered resonance of color and texture conveyed through pigment and brushstroke.
Guen's artistic journey around the country started with various mountain plein air and studio workshops at the Art Students League in Denver, Colorado, followed by further explorations alongside big-city masters at the Art Students League of New York. With her most recent move to California's Central Valley, she seeks to infuse her work with the diversity of her latest local environment.
